HOW IS THE WEATHER IN PERU?
Peru’s climate varies depending on where you are.
On the coast it is usually quite hot although during the winter (April-August) it can get chilly early in the morning and at night.
In the Andes there are two main seasons – wet and dry. The wet season runs from November to March and is wet but usually warmer overall. The dry season runs from April to October and has hot clear days but cold nights.

HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE THERE IN A GROUP THAT ARRANGE?
The maximum group size is 8 people. Usually our groups are between 2-8 persons. Mountain Gods Peru specializes in Small and Private groups and provides personalized services.
DO YOU OFFER ORGANIZED TOURS WITH REGULAR DEPARTURE DATES?
No we do not. Each of our trips is private and personalized to your group. We build your itinerary from the ground-up, based on your timeframe, budget, needs and wants.
WHAT INOCULATIONS DO I NEED?
No inoculations are compulsory to enter Peru. Yellow fever is highly recommended for the rainforest areas. Other recommended inoculations include: tetanus, polio, typhoid and malaria for certain areas. Please be reminded that if you travel to Brazil or Bolivia from Peru you will need a yellow fever inoculation.

Our exceptional guides have been carefully selected for their knowledge, professionalism, experience and ability to effectively manage groups with finesse. We hire only guides who are local to the destination and are licensed and/or certified in accordance with the government regulations of the country. All are fluent in Quechua, Spanish and English. Our team of congenial guides offers priceless insights into the true nature of their homelands, adding immeasurably to the enjoyment of the trip.
DO YOU WORK WITH TRAVEL AGENTS?
No we do not. Mountain Gods Peru would never trust another company to operate tours or treks for us!
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK MY TRIP FOR THE INCA TRAIL?
Yes, it is recommended that you make a reservation for the Inca trail and pay for your entrance fee 5 or 6 months well in advance.
I AM NOT INTERESTED IN DOING ANYTHING TOURISTY.CAN YOU TAKE ME TO PLACES THAT ARE “OFF THE BEATEN TRACK“?
We are experts,We have lived in the andes for years and we pride ourselves in having the expert knowledge to take you to places that are not frequented by many tourists. For example, alternative treks or you can visit a small Andean village far from the tourist centers, stay in a local home, or dine with a local family.
HOW IS THE FOOD ON THE TREKS?
We are proud to say that the only complaints we get about our food is that there is too much of it. Many people comment that the food they eat on the treks is the best they get whilst in Peru.
In general we provide complete meals and snacks during the trip starting with lunch on the first day and ending with breakfast on the fourth day (the last lunch in Aguas Calientes is not included). Our experienced chefs make amazing meals in the middle of the mountains and are also used to preparing dishes for people with different food restrictions or lifestyles, so please let us know your preferences and we will make sure to meet your dietary needs.
DO I NEED TO BE FIT TO DO ONE OF THE TREKS?
All of our treks (the Inca Trail, Salkantay,Lares,Inca quarry, Ausangate etc.) are moderately difficult, long and mountainous. We highly recommend that you are relatively fit and acclimatised to altitude (a minimum of 3 days at altitude) before undertaking them. During the months (or at the very least, one month) before your trip, you should take regular, moderate exercise. We want you to have an amazing experience and the fitter you are, the more enjoyable the treks will be.
WHY DO I NEED TO SEND A DEPOSIT?
We use your deposit (Non-refundable) to pay official fees when making your official reservation. For example, we need to pay tourist and porters entrance fees and taxes (19%). We also use it to secure cooks, porters and horses for our different treks.
HOW CAN I PAY MY DEPOSIT/FINAL BALANCE?
Deposits for treks can be paid using the methods provided below. Bank transfers are not recommended as they can take up to 3 working days to clear! Final balances for treks need to be paid in cash (US$) in our office in Cusco 48 hours prior to your trek.
DEPOSITS FOR TOURS CAN BE PAID USING ANY OF THE METHODS BELOW.
Final balances for treks can be paid via PAYPAL– up to 1 week prior to trek departure. Final balances for treks should be paid 48 hours prior to departure at the latest. If it is not paid within this timeframe, we reserve the right to cancel the trip. Payment can be made in cash at our office.
FINAL BALANCES FOR ITINERARIES SHOULD BE PAID 1 MONTH PRIOR TO YOUR TRIP.
1) Credit card Visa (only for Inca Trail reservation deposits) – we have an online payment system which you can use to pay with your credit/debit card. In this case, we ask you to pay an additional 9% on the deposit to cover Visa commission.
2) Paypal: (for alternative treks and Inca Trail and tour reservations deposits). In this case, we ask you to pay an additional 6% on the deposit to cover Paypal commission. To make your deposit by Paypal you need a Paypal account, the address to send your deposit to: is mountaingodsperu@gmail.com
WHAT SHOULD I DO AS MY TREK DATE APPROACHES?
Please come by the agency at least 48 hours prior to your tour to meet, finalise details, pay your balance and organise your pre-trek talk (if applicable – Inca Trail / alternative treks).
